News from Ms. Maher’s Third Class 😊

Here is our latest news…

September

We began our daily kilometre from week one of third class… We love the fresh air and exercise each afternoon. It rejuvenates us for more learning before we go home. Our third-class new year resolution for 2025 is to get even fitter!! 

October

We researched Ancient Egypt. We used lots of different books and online sites to gather information about life in Ancient Egypt. We even interviewed a pupil from second class who visited the pyramids last year!

November

We really embraced learning French with Aldina who is from France. We practice speaking French every day since. Our project on French culture is displayed in our classroom.

During November and December, Ciaran, Paddy and Jack coached us for hurling and football.

December  

Full steam ahead rehearsing for the Christmas Concert! We performed two songs and danced to The Witch Doctor and added to the evenings of fun entertainment.

January

Our sleepy heads have worn off now after a lovely Christmas break and we are using our ‘Math’s Eyes’ to spot fractions around us.  We learned that getting one quarter of a pepperoni pizza is better than getting one eighth!! 

We’ve enjoyed live Science webinars since October from UCG’s ‘Meet the Scientist’. We have live chats with real scientists that are researching cool things. This month we learned what lives in the deepest part of the ocean… yikes!!
